This collection highlights a handful of the collaborative projects Nik has undertaken, but in the main is a solo collection of pop, rock and folk. The repertoire ranges from celtic ballads to Eurovision Song Contest entries - so the pace never stops, and neither do the catchy tunes and hook lines.

Nik Sargent is a classically trained musician turned popular singer/songwriter and producer. Beginning composing as a youngster, by the time he was sixteen he had already had numerous public performances, commissions and songwriting success at a national level. He has continued to write and produce prolifically across a spectrum of genres, which includes composing musicals for youngsters and writing for the Eurovision song contest.

Nik's repertoire encompasses everything from instrumental, ambient & new-age, stage & theatre, film-track, rock, pop, jazz, dance - in fact almost any style you care to think of.

In Strange Ink, Sargent presents us with a quick tour through some of the pop, euro-pop, rock and folk styles he has produced.

Nik is joined by his sister, Clare Sargent, for two tracks. Also a classically trained and exceptionally talented professional musician, her extraordinary and evocative vocals delight the senses. "My Island" is an absolute vocal treat.

There is rarely a moment for the foot to stop tapping (or fingers clicking, in the case of "Meant to Be") - as catchy beats and memorable melody lines (e.g. "My Island" - reminiscent of "Danny Boy") are laid over sumptious layers of texture from both traditional and electronic instruments.

It is this blend of old and new, mastery of traditional and contemporary that gives Sargent his unique appeal and all of his songs have that "the-more-you-listen, the-more-you-hear" kind of quality. Devotion to the production detail completes the overall finesse.

From the heartbreak of "Little Boy", to the bitterness and anger of "Walkaway" and "Limit"; through to the heartfelt longing of "My Island" and downright cheeky playfulness of "Meant To Be", practically every emotion is visited by Strange Ink - ensuring there is plenty to touch the heart, something here for everyone.
